Sunrise on the Deschutes River
Today i want to show you the Deschutes River. It’s one of my favorite rivers for catching trout and it’s the place to go if you want a chance to catch big trout or steelhead. The Deschutes river is the crown jewel of flyfishing waters in Central Oregon. I have done pretty well catching big Browns and rainbows on the Deschutes but have never tried for steelhead on a flyrod. It looks like an exciting time and i can’t wait to give it a try.

Nice picture and video. I’m curious, do you eat the fish after you catch them, or do you throw them back? If steelhead fish is eaten, is it pretty good?

Darryl i’m a catch and release fisherman. some waters are designated catch and release only and there are size limits as well. Steelhead are ocean run trout that come back to fresh water to spawn, so most trout over a certain length (usually 21 inches) is considered steelhead. These fish are prized for how they fight as well as how they taste. I need to get a recipe from Christian.

The Deschutes River at Sunrise looks simply beautiful. I watched the video. That looked fun as well. Of course, I’ll leave the fly fishing to the ones who love to fish and I’ll go hiking to enjoy the views and terrain of Central Oregon.

it started out that way but by the time i got my camera out and set up it had changed….so i used a filter.
